Cecilia es una hermosa chica, quien a la muerte de sus padres se ve obligada a vivir
con sus dos tías "solteronas", Natalia y Evangelina, en la ciudad de Guanajuato, donde ambas son muy respetadas por su abolengo
y moralidad.
Natalia es excesivamente cariñosa y comprensiva, mientras que su hermana Evangelina, es extremadamente represiva
y autoritaria, además de poseer el liderazgo de la familia y por lo tanto, se le tiene que brindar total obediencia, lo cual
provoca que Cecilia no viva con naturalidad su juventud.
Sin embargo, la bella joven cuenta con una amiga que se convierte en su único contacto con la realidad
externa; ella es Sofía, una compañera del colegio, de su misma edad, pero con una perspectiva abierta y libre ante la vida.
A través de los años, se ha establecido un fuerte vínculo de amistad y confianza entre ambas chicas,
a pesar de la oposición de Evangelina. Dicha amistad parece indestructible, hasta que aparece Gerardo, un joven apuesto, quien
en un inicio se siete atraído por Sofía, y Cecilia sólo le inspira un poco de lástima. Pero con el tiempo, los sentimientos
de Gerardo van cambiando, hasta que su lástima termina por convertirse en profundo amor, lo cual hará que Sofía rompa sus
lazos de amistad y se convierta en una terrible enemiga para la pareja.
